Changing My Approach To Journaling

I keep a journal, a diary of my life, and have written in it daily since 2013.

This year I moved away from Day One as my journal app, after over a decade, to writing in a physical book.

Partly because I’m uncomfortable with storing data online, and wondering what happens to it after I’m gone. A physical book has a legacy.

Partly because there’s something nice about writing in a book.

Partly, I don’t like that Day One has platform lock-in on iOS. I can’t use any alternative phone if my journal holds me to iOS.

And partly, I don’t love that Automattic owns Day One. The Wordpress meltdown has made me reconsider what other products of theirs I use.
